gasoline
machman4 asked:

I’m doing a science project on combustion of different grades of gasoline, but can’t seem to find anything on what percent of it is octane. I found one site, but it was contradicting saying (for example) 87 gas was 87% octane, but then says that the 87 is a compression rating. Anyone know how to find the percent of octane in a fuel?
I know that. What I need to find out IS the percentage of octane. If anyone knows, help!

In England they say ‘Petrol’, short for petroleum, whereas in the US they say ‘Gas’, short for gasoline. So what the hell is the difference between them? Surely they are not two completely different names for the same thing?

Does anyone know when Boron started getting used as an additive in gasoline? I know it was post WWII, but does anyone have any specific year?

I must perform a lab to prove which fuel (out of ethanol, isopropanol or liquid paraffin) would be the best for cooking for interior camping. How would I show, with a lab, the best cooking fuel to use?
