As far as I know, gasoline consists of a blend of several different hydrocarbons which are extracted from raw petroleum. In chemistry the stoichiometric ratio would refer to the the number of mols of each reactant required to make the reaction a balanced equation (or else it would violate the law of conservation of matter) That being said different hydrocarbons would have different stochiometric ratios with the atmospheric oxygen when they combust. So my question is this: How can their be a single value which is considered ’stoichiometric’ for gasoline?

My father owns an 84 Cadillac Eldorado with no problems. It hasn’t been driven in several years, however, he has run it at least 3 times a year. Gas supposedly has a shelf life of 30 days and this car’s probably been on the same tank. It shows that it is expired because the exhaust is awfully foggy and the muffler drools what the engine couldn’t burn.

So the question is, what damage could’ve been done due to the prolonged exposure to old gasoline this vehicle’s innards has had to go through?

I want to get my snowblower ready for the season. I am a fairly new homeowner having lived in Manhattan for ten years previously. I am assuming I turn the thing over and empty the gas/oil mix, but I wanted to ask for some advice on this process and for the actual disposal of the gasoline. Thanks.

I have some gasoline in my garage, maybe a little less than a half a gallon. It’s in one of those plastic gas cans. It’s smelling up my garage but i daon’t know how to get rid of it safely and responsibly.
Help!
It wont go into my tank–hence the reason why I haven’t done so already

My ‘99 Taurus SE normally purrs sweet as a kitten. Last the gas tank reached empty (yet still was running perfect) so I filled it up, parked it, and now this morning, it doesnt want to idle properly at all. Is this a situation of bad gasoline? What can I do to correct the problem? I am having to put the car in park at stoplights and lightly excelerate to just keep it running!
***Last night I filled it up*** now this morning all of a sudden, it doesn’t want to idle.

I spilled some gasoline on my hands earlier and I’ve washed my hands about 4 or five times, but I can’t seem to get the smell off of them.

What can I do to get the smell off?
Sorry, couldn’t give a best answer on this one. Tried all of these and none of them worked…

Thanks, though, for all the answers! I appreciate it.

We own an ‘04 Subaru Ouback H6 Anniversary edition. The dealership insists only putting premium gasoline in the car to prevent a knocking (?). However, some mechanic friends I know say it bs, but they don’t specifically know about that type of car. Is there a difference for cars with high compression engines like my Subaru, or should I start going with lower grade gas?

Is it possible to flush out diesel fuel in a gasoline lawn mower engine without buying a new lawn mower?

Any recommendation would be appreciated.
