I always thought they used hydrogen-fuel for those type of stuff….
    mmm

It’s all a personal preference. For some, racing is worth the fuel expense; for others (you), it’s not.

Racing makes your car more fuel efficient, believe it or not. Race cars use a lot of fuel, but they have to use fuel wisely. They push the limit, improve engine designs, improve aerodynamics and many other things. A lot of the technology that makes your car more fuel efficient started in racing cars.

So no, I don’t see it as a waste of fuel.

I’m not a racing fan myself, but I don’t believe the solution is to ban racing. Many safety and performance innovations started out on the racetrack. They pay the same (or higher) prices for gasoline that you or I do.

it’s truly addictive. i’ve got an s-10 with a v-8 in it and i take it out on the weekends and have fun in it. what a rush! i’ll spend 30 bucks to fill it up half way, but that 30 bucks lasts all night. we all can agree that a lot of fun stuff can happen in one night.

professional race sports are getting to the point where there are all kinds of sponsors that pay for fuel, parts, advertisement, stuff like that. the actual driver doesn’t have to pull up to the gas station and pay out of pocket. it’s special race fuel with a killer octane rating for high compression applications. some top fuel use nitro-methane fuel which is……nautious….

In order to win a race, you have to be more efficient that your opponent. This may mean that you learn how to go further between fill-ups, become more aerodynamic, go faster on the same power, or anything within the rules of the race that will give you an advantage. The innovations on the race course can be translated into advances for the everyday motorist that will lead to better fuel economy, safety, and other things that benefit the driving public. I have heard that the first rear view mirrors were developed for race cars. Many of the advances that we take for granted today were developed on the race car circuit.

It is “waste”. “Waist” is the part of your body you pull your pants up to.

The big waste in pro sports is all the fuel burned getting all those people to the stadium for just a few hours of watching other people playing.

hmmm…I’ve also heard of them using hydrogen, which only emits water vapor, for race cars. But yes, they should take that into consideration.

I think racing is stupid to watch…but I bet it would be awesome to actually be in the car :)

that gas is donated to them from sponsors.
